Set Up Referrals

Overview

The Referral System allows users to earn points for inviting friends to download and engage with your app.

Both parties can be rewarded:

  • The Advocate (person sharing the app)
  • The Friend (person receiving the referral)

Referrals help drive new user acquisition while rewarding loyal customers.


Access Referrals

  1. Go to Community Menu
  2. Select Referrals

Configure Referral Actions

You’ll see a list of actions that can trigger referral rewards, such as:

  • Downloading the app
  • Joining the Community
  • Watching Reels
  • Making a purchase
  • Posting content
  • Liking content

Each action can be:

  • Enabled or disabled
  • Assigned specific point values

Advocate Rewards (Referrer)

The Referral column defines how many points the advocate receives when their friend completes an action.

Example:

  • Friend downloads app → Advocate earns X points
  • Friend makes purchase → Advocate earns Y points

Ongoing Rewards

You can optionally:

  • Reward the advocate continuously for future purchases made by their friend
  • Create long-term incentive structures

Advocate Purchase-Based Rewards

There are separate reward settings for:

  • Advocates who have made a purchase
  • Advocates who have not made a purchase

This allows you to:

  • Reward loyal customers more generously
  • Limit point farming from users who haven’t engaged with your brand

Friend Rewards

You can also choose to reward the referred friend for completing actions (e.g., joining, purchasing).


Best Practices

  • Offer stronger incentives for advocates who are paying customers.
  • Reward meaningful actions (e.g., purchase over app download).
  • Consider ongoing purchase rewards for long-term growth.
  • Monitor referral abuse and adjust point limits if needed.
  • Combine referrals with loyalty levels for VIP ambassador programs.
